Course length: | 50 hours of video instruction |
Course Description: | Strength of Materials, aka Mechanics of Materials, studies the properties of materials involving stresses and strains, and their relationships as applied to axial, torsional, and flexural loading. Strength of materials also discusses displacements, statically indeterminate structures, and columns.
Strength of Materials is typically taken the term following statics. Some students confuse the course Strength of Materials with Materials Engineering. Materials Engineering differs from Strength of Materials in that it deals the atomic structure of materials. |
